Duties & Responsibilities:Preparing the operating room
Making sure all necessary supplies and surgical tools are sterile and ready
Keeping track of all items used during surgery to make sure nothing gets misplaced
Providing other assistance during the operation
Delivering the patient to recovery
Salary: $43,350
Education: Technically a high school diploma or a GED will be enough to qualify for an Operating Room Technician. But a bachelors or masters degree might give you a better chance of getting the job and future jobs as well.
Demand: There were roughly 98,500 ORT jobs in the U.S. in 2012, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. With baby boomers aging, the number of ORT jobs is expected to grow 30% through 2022.
